For Michael Rippey, art has been a lifelong interest but he did not become a serious oil painter until he retired in 2013 after a long career in golf course development and operations.

Most of his life has been spent in the Midwest, particularly along the shores of Lake Michigan, and today his home and studio are in Holland, Michigan, along the big lake’s southwestern shore. As you will see as you browse the many paintings displayed on this website, the themes and subject matter reflect the barns, boats, sand dunes and rural landscape that Michael has been around all his life.
